A Little Bit Of Canadian History

Canada is full of vibrant history, the history that has helped to form the great country it is today.

Every summer, Canadians look forward to Canada Day, celebrated on July 1 of every year. It began in 1867 when the British North American Act was signed. It is what united the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia into a single dominion, which was still under the British Empire.

The holiday was once known as Dominion Day, though it was renamed to Canada Day later on, making it the current holiday that we all love to celebrate.

Canada has been ruled by both the French and the British, which is why there are so many interesting provinces throughout the country. It was in 1867, however, that Canada began acting as a kingdom of its own, which became a true reality in 1982.

There are all sorts of exciting holiday traditions celebrated on Canada Day. There are carnivals, parades, barbecues, airshows, and even fireworks. There is no formula for the way that Canadians celebrate the holiday. If it's fun, it's allowed. In Ottawa, our nation's capitol, is where the highest level of festivities are held. This includes countless cultural displays, free concerts, and where the governor general and prime minister are likely to be seen hosting an event or two.

Expatriates will still celebrate Canada Day, too. This means that there are international celebrations. It's unfortunate that anyone would choose to move out of Canada, though. Although it's great that they're celebrating in far off places, they're not able to experience all of the amazing aspects that Canada has to offer – and more specifically, the businesses that have worked so hard to become something.

While we're not exactly setting off fireworks in our offices, we're really passionate about what we do and where we do it. There are so many local business owners in Canada that make the experience worth it. We have come a long way as Canadians and being reminded of the history shows us why it is that we do what we do.

At JBM Office Systems Ltd, we have come a long way, too. Being in business for over 30 years is not easy to do. We have learned a lot over the years and have earned a few accolades, too. We're also thrilled to be partners with some of the top brands in the industry, including Toshiba, Lexmark, Neopost, Datto and Ricoh, just to name a few.

We offer a wide array of products and services to Canadian businesses to ensure that they are successful, too. Ricoh’s latest Interactive Flat Panel Displays with Whiteboard technology and video conferencing are helping customers improve customer service and save money at the same time.

Oh, Canada, how we love thee. We're not going anywhere anytime soon. If we've been able to make it three decades, we're confident we can make it another three. Especially with the great staff we have, we're able to overcome all sorts of obstacles.

Speaking of obstacles, if you're currently experiencing a problem with the way that you're printing or handling your data, let us help. We're always looking for a way to overcome business problems. We're full of solutions.
